This week students in our school community participated in Crew Connections Week. This welcomed all students to get to know each other across grade levels by saying "hello", talking about their favorite books or pets, and then digging in to figure out how to be more inclusive. Of course, this word is very abstract for my littles, but with All School Crew (ASC) they were able to learn from "big" kiddos and how to create a safe and compassionate school. Below are picture of art work they completed with Ms. Shannon that emphasized that different is OK! ***WARNING: tearing may occur Being different is OKXOXO,

Hello crew, We have been a lot of learning the past few weeks. This past Monday we visited Plumper Pumpkin where they taught us about their farm and how they serve the community. We learned about different types of pumpkins, the animals that live on the farm, and enjoyed a hay ride. We even got to pick our own pumpkin! Enjoy our pictures With our pumpkins we read a book From Seed to Pumpkin and learned how a pumpkin grows. We wrote in our pumpkin books and then decorated them very beautifully. I hope you enjoyed them! Thank you for supporting us! We are learning a lot together!
XOXO, Miss Tasha As an EL Education school we are able to go out in the field as well as having guests come and talk to us about their type of work. Since we are learning about tools, the Hillsboro Fire Department sent Engine #2 to visit and share all the tools a fire engine has We learned that fire engines are toolboxes within itself. How awesome is that?! Then our firefighters received a 911 call. Here they are doing their job! We love having experts. If you would like to share tools you use to do your job, please let me know.
XOXO, Miss Tasha Our first fieldwork this year was awesome! We visited Oregon Heritage Farms (south Hillsboro) and learned about the process after apples are picked. If you are interested in going as a family, you can call ahead of time for a tour of the facilities. Highly recommended by the kids!
