The Thursday before Spring Break we explored the Audubon with our kindergarten friends. It was a long day for all of us. We set out to the Audubon and when we arrived we immediately got to work. We split into three groups and walked the trails of the Audubon and visited the Care Center. After our walk we had lunch, then our second part of the trip exploring bird specimens. This provides hands-on learning for each kiddo and allows them to physically touch birds party and identify different types of birds. It was amazing to see the kids predict what types of food birds eat depending on the beak and even the birds they are able to identify by name. BEAUTIFUL BIRDS

We have partnered with a new community organization this year, Tualatin Hills Nature Park. This is my first year working with them and I'm really excited to continue this partnership as we study birds. This fieldwork was the first of three. The next two will take place at Tualatin Hills again and then Cooper Mountain. As you may know, we are studying birds this semester and our first case study is all about identifying birds and characteristics that make them unique. For example,
-Birds have beaks -Birds have wings -Birds have feathers -Birds lay eggs -Birds have hollow bones Although I was away, I'm so grateful for the chaperones who kept me in the loop! I love fieldwork and I hope the kids do too! We had a great day exploring Hoyt Arboretum and the weather held off for us. The kids had a great learning experience pretending to be birds, exploring the birds beaks and what they eat, and how birds build nests. We split up into two groups and met back together at the pavilion for lunch. Migration Activity Birds Beaks Nest Building Thank you for following along in our learning!
XOXO Miss Tasha As a school we chose to participate in a school-wide Spirit Week to celebrate Dr. Seuss Day. Each day had a theme that students could choose to participate in. It's definitely fun to see these kids be silly, crazy, and working hard. At the same time, we started our expedition about birds. Here are some fun photos of both! Hi all, I've been so behind on our pictures and postings so here is my chance to catch you all up on the past two months! EL Night was a success and I am so proud of these kiddos for memorizing their poems and then sharing them will all of you. It goes to show how much perseverance they have and even the risks they took to feel brave. Thank you to all of you for supporting us. If you didn't get to see our watercolor art, here are some photos, but we're also on display at New Seasons at Orenco Station.
