Hello everyone, We've been really busy in First Grade. To be completely honest, the past 3 months have been a blur. Mr. Kainoa and I got married in December and have been traveling back and forth to Hawaii to celebrate big milestones with family and friends; weddings and Grandma turning 100 on Leap Day. I will try to keep up with the never ending fieldwork we have planned, but no promises it will happen right away. We've kicked off Birds and man it has been amazing! Oregon is in this weird spring time weather and all the birds are chatting away. Enjoy these photos from the past few months Owl PelletsGuest ReadersHoyt Arboretum

Writing: Informational Writing to complement our HoWL Bots
New Expedition: Sun, Moon, and Stars Reading Buddies: 3rd Grade Crew HoWL Notes: How we write notes to friends when we see them using their HoWLs Labs: loving this watercolor and imaginative play As a culmination project, First Grade Crews celebrated by using Tools and enjoying yummy food. We started the morning learning and helping to make apple pie. While that baked, students visited stations with friends from both classes. While learning about different tools, students were able to decide which tools were best for the job as well as have fun.
We are a little behind on the updates, but that's because we've been doing a lot of learning! While learning about tool, Ms. Rebecca and Mr. Corey visited our crew to share about how they harvest their bees. We learned about different tools and even tasted fresh honey. So DELICIOUS! We enjoyed our first Kinderkonzert this year at Lincoln Street Elementary. It's brought by Oregon Symphony and their team. Being a small school, we don't have the all the resources like theatre/music to share with the kiddos. So, with my team, we venture out and find them. Here's our cuties The second half of our day turned out to be a great sunny time at Oregon Heritage Farms. Although we weren't able to visit the packing facility, we were able to tour the farm, jump in the bouncy house, and try really yummy cider!
